Developmental Delay Evaluation

Developmental Delay Evaluation: This evaluation is conducted with young children whose parents feel they are developing slowly in one or more of the major areas of development. This evaluation will assess cognitive development, adaptive behavior, and social/emotional functioning. Speech Language and Motor Develop will be screened. A referral may be made to have speech and/or motor skills formally assessed if results indicate the need. This evaluation is for anyone ages 3 through 7 years old.

Areas typically assessed:

1. IQ and Cognitive -  will provide information regarding various cognitive strengths and weaknesses. This information is critical so that instruction can be presented in a way that best matches the individual's cognitive strengths, leading to better retention of information. 

2. Social/Emotional/Behavior - will provide information regarding Internalizing Problems (anxiety, depression), Externalizing Problems (Hyperactivity, Aggression, Conduct Problems), and Behavior (Attention Problems, Withdrawal). ADHD and Adaptive Behavior will also be assessed.

3. Adaptive Behavior - will provide information regarding Communication, Daily Living, and Socialization Skills.
